Lisa earned her BFA at UW with her first major being marketing/graphic design & her second theatre design. After having her son the seed for providing birth support was planted by her own IBCLC & midwife. She had 2 completely natural births with a midwife in Elgin. At the time, being a director of artistic operations at a display company; the timing was not right to change careers. Being an artist for 10+ years paved the path to more unique birth support solutions for families. She would go on to complete her education in becoming a birth & postpartum doula in 2008. Lisa also received her original IBCLC certification in 2010 & recently recertified by board exam in the end of 2020. She is certified for placenta encapsulation along with current blood borne & OSHA training. Lisa is a professional member and co-chairperson of the Northern Illinois Breastfeeding Task Force. Each year she hosts MommaPalooza in Rockford. Lisa is an insured allied health professional that does accept most insurance plans.
At the beginning of 2013 I decided to restart my career as a labor & postpartum doula. As your labor doula I will be at your labor (not just at the hospital) to attend to your physical & emotional needs. I am the perfect compliment to your birth partner. As a professional I will go above & beyond to make sure that the things you desire in a birth are what you get. Then, after you go home for the hospital or back to your daily life (if you deliver at home) I can be there to help YOU cope with your new baby, show you how to care for you & the baby, help with household needs & of course, help with breastfeeding.
Oh Baby Mine has been in business to help families since January 2011
Several references available upon request for both "mom" & "dad" points of view.
